Who are we?
Farm on 42nd participates in a complex ecosytem on an urban lot in Springfield, Oregon. We grow food for our community, habitat for native pollinators, and hold space for the paradoxes of modern life.
With the help of her husband, two dogs and a plethora of pollinators, Farmer Christina grows year-round vegetables, flowers and perennial foods on a half-acre urban lot. Does the hum of the sub-station across the street contribute to the wild growth? Certainly the waft of the paper mill and the rumbles of the nearby trains never lets us forget that we participate in a global stream of constant motion, transformation and consumption. How does our micro-farm fit into all of this? That is the question of today and every day.
